You too, wear the holy tripuṇḍra with faith.

3.3.16.154
ityuktvā vāmadevastu śivayogī mahātapāḥ ..
Having spoken thus, Vāmadeva, the Śiva-yogi of great austerity,
3.3.16.155
abhimaṃtrya dadau bhasma ghorāya brahmarakṣase .. 74 ..
consecrated the ashes with mantras and gave them to the terrible brahmarakṣas.
3.3.16.156
tenāsau bhālapaṭale cakre tirya ktripuṃḍrakam ..
With them, he made a horizontal tripuṇḍra upon the expanse of his forehead.

ya etadbhasmamāhātmyaṃ tripuṃḍraṃ śṛṇuyānnaraḥ ..
Whatever person hears this glory of holy ash [and] the tripuṇḍra,
3.3.16.165
śrāvayedvā paṭhedvāpi sa hi yāti parāṃ gatim .. 79 ..
or causes it to be heard, or reads it, attains indeed the highest state.
