Skandapurana 5.108

Īśvara said: / All this has been narrated to you, O fair-faced lady, as I was asked— / the collection of sacred fords, the essence of all sacred fords whatsoever. (1)

In all these [sacred fords], O lady of beautiful hips, I abide / under different names, and also in other sacred fords, for the benefit of the gods. (2)

Whichever man, having bathed in these sacred fords, beholds me / and celebrates me by name through recitation, he will surely attain liberation. (3)

The goddess said: / In which sacred fords which name of yours should be celebrated, O Lord? / Tell me that in full, if indeed I am dear to you. (4)

Īśvara said: / In Vārāṇasī, [I am celebrated as] Mahādeva, and in Prayāga as Maheśvara; / in Naimiṣa as Devadeva, and in Gayā as Prapitāmaha. (5)

In Kurukṣetra they know [me as] Sthāṇu; in Prabhāsa, as Śaśiśekhara; / in Puṣkara, as Ajāgandhi; and in Viśveśvara, as Viśva. (6)

In Aṭṭahāsa as Mahānāda; in Mahendra as Mahāvrata; / in Ujjayinī as Mahākāla; in Marukoṭa as Mahotkaṭa. (7)

In Śaṅkukarṇa as Mahātejas; and in Gokarṇa as Mahābala; / in Rudrakoṭi as Mahāyoga; in Sthaleśvara as Mahāliṅga. (8)

In Harṣita as Harṣa; in Vṛṣabhadhvaja as Vṛṣabha; / in Kedāra as Īśāna; in Madhyamakeśvara as Śarva. (9)

In Sahasrākṣa as Suparṇākṣa; in Kārtikeśvara as Susūkṣma; / in Vastrāpatha, O goddess, as Bhava; and likewise in Kanakhala as Ugra. (10)

In Bhadrakarṇa as Śiva; and in Daṇḍaka as Daṇḍin; / in Tridaṇḍā as Ūrdhvaretas; in Kṛmijāṅgala as Caṇḍīśa. (11)

In Ekāmra as Kṛttivāsas; in Chāgaleya as Kapardin; / in Kāliñjara as Nīlakaṇṭha; in Maṇḍaleśvara as Śrīkaṇṭha. (12)

In Kaśmīra as Vijaya; in Marukeśvara as Jayanta; / in Hariścandra as Hara; and in Puraścandra as Śaṃkara. (13)

One should know [me] in Vāmeśvara as Jaṭin; in Kukkuṭeśvara as Saumya; / in Bhasmagātra as Bhūteśvara; in Oṃkāra as Amarakaṇṭaka. (14)

In Trisaṃdhyā as Tryambaka; in Virajā as Trilocana; / in Arkeśvara [I am] to be known as Dīpta; in Nepāla as Paśupālaka. (15)

In Duṣkarṇa as Yamaliṅga; in Karavīraka as Kapālin; / in Jāgeśvara as Triśūlin; and in Śrīśaila as Tripurāntaka. (16)

In Ayodhyā as Rohaṇa; in Pātāla as Hāṭakeśvara; / in Kārohaṇa as Nakulīśa; in Devikā as Umāpati. (17)

In Bhairava as Bhairavākāra; in the eastern ocean as Amara; / in Saptagodāvara as Bhīma; in Nirmaleśvara as Svayambhū. (18)

In Karṇikāra as Gaṇādhyakṣa; and on Kailāsa as Gaṇādhipa; / at Gaṅgādvāra as Himasthāna; in Jalaliṅga as Jalapriya. (19)

In the submarine fire as Anala; in Badarikāśrama as Bhīma; / in Śreṣṭha as Koṭīśvara; and on the Vindhya mountain as Vārāha. (20)

On Hemakūṭa as Virūpākṣa; on Gandhamādana as Bhūrbhuva; / in Liṅgeśvara as Varada; and in Laṅkā as Narāntaka. (21)

This [group of] sixty-eight has been narrated to you in detail, O goddess; / it destroys all sins for those who recite it or listen to it. (22)

Therefore, it should be recited with every effort by the wise, / who are pure, at the three junctions of the day, especially by those initiated into the rites of Śiva. (23)

Even if merely kept written in one’s home, O fair-hipped lady, / no evil arising from ghosts or spirits occurs there. (24)

No [danger] from disease, serpents, thieves, O fair-faced lady, / nor ever anywhere from other [threats] such as kings [befalls it]. (25)

Thus ends the one hundred and ninth chapter, named “Account of the Māhātmya of the Sixty-Eight Sacred Fords,” in the māhātmya of the sacred field of Hāṭakeśvara, in the sixth Nāgarakhaṇḍa, in the Skanda Mahāpurāṇa consisting of eighty-one thousand verses.
