Sanatkumāra said:
6.1.8.63
naranārāyaṇau pūrvaṃ yatra vai tepatustapaḥ .. 29 ..
Where Nara and Nārāyaṇa formerly practiced austerity,

the two gods spoke then: “They have come here to cause an obstacle.
6.1.8.69
asmākaṃ na striyaḥ saṃti tena vai vighnakāraṇam .. 32 ..
We have no women; therefore indeed [they act as] a cause of obstacle.”
6.1.8.70
evaṃ saṃjalpya ca naro nārāyaṇamuvāca ha ..

incomparable in beauty in the world, adorned with all ornaments.
6.1.8.74
utthitāṃ pramadāṃ dṛṣṭvā jvalanābhāṃ varāṃganām ..

asmadvacanasāmarthyādgṛhāṇemāṃ tvamurvaśīm ..
“By the power of our word, take this Urvaśī.
6.1.8.81
ūrubhyāṃ janitā yasmānnareṇeyaṃ varāṃganā .. 38 ..
Because this excellent woman was produced from the thighs (ūru) by Nara,
6.1.8.82
maṃjaryā sahakārasya teneyamurvaśī smṛtā ..
with a cluster of mango blossoms, therefore she is known as Urvaśī.”
6.1.8.83
puraṃdaro gṛhītvā tāmurvaśīṃ paramāṃganām .. 39 ..
Puraṃdara, having taken that supreme woman Urvaśī,

went to heaven, and then summoned Citrāṅgada and said:
6.1.8.85

“Let instruction be given to her, O Citra, so that she becomes skilled in dance.
6.1.8.86
kriyatāmacirādeṣā yatnamāsthāya śobhanam ..
Let her be made [so] without delay, applying splendid effort.”
6.1.8.87
evamukte tu śakreṇa kṛtā tena vicakṣaṇā ..

his heart stolen by her, the king understood nothing [else].

Composing firmness in his heart, he remained still for a moment.
6.1.8.96

And then Urvaśī, her mind struck by the sight of him,
6.1.8.97
tatpradeśādviniṣkramya kāmārtā cātivihvalā ..
stepped away from that place, afflicted by desire and greatly agitated.

seen by the lion among kings, tormented by love.

Purūravas went to earth, remembering only her in his mind.

6.1.8.106
rātrāveva ca sā tena ānītā tridivaṃ punaḥ .. 5.1.8.50 ..
And during the night itself, she was brought back to heaven by him.

tayā virahitaḥ so'pi śūnyacittaḥ paribhraman ..
Deprived of her, he too wandered about, empty-minded.
