14.54.1

Pulastya said: / Then one should go to Tripuṣkara, which is dear to the Lotus-Born [Brahmā]; / it was brought by Brahmā to the mountain named Arbuda.

14.54.2

Formerly, while Vasiṣṭha's sacrificial session was underway, O ruler of men, / Brahmā and the foremost gods arrived at that mountain.

14.54.3

A vow had been made, O great king, by Brahmā of unmanifest birth: / 'As long as I stay in this world of men, so long will I, composed in mind, / worship the twilight at Tripuṣkara when twilight time arrives.'

14.54.4

Just at that time, as the Lotus-Born was setting out towards Puṣkara / for the twilight devotion, Vasiṣṭha said to him:

14.54.5

Vasiṣṭha said: / 'The time for ritual actions has arrived in this sacrifice, O best of gods; / without you, O god, it will never reach completion.

14.54.6

Therefore bring Tripuṣkara right here, O Lotus-Born. / Having performed the twilight worship there again, O Lord of gods, / act as the chief priest (brahman) in this sacrificial session, O Lord of gods, O store of compassion!'

14.54.7

Addressed thus by Vasiṣṭha, Brahmā, the grandfather of the worlds, / meditated and brought there the senior, middle, and junior ones; / and the triad of Puṣkaras entered into a most holy reservoir of water.

14.54.8

From that time onwards, Tripuṣkara came to be on this Arbuda.

14.54.9

Whoever, composed in mind, bathes and gives gifts there / on the full-moon day in the month of Kārtika attains eternal worlds. // 9

14.54.10

To the north of it is the excellent Sāvitrīkuṇḍa, / performing bath, gift-giving, and other rites at which one attains an auspicious realm. // 7.3.54.10

14.54.54

Thus ends the fifty-fourth chapter, entitled "Description of the Greatness of Tripuṣkara", in the third section, the Arbudakhaṇḍa, of the seventh book, the Prabhāsakhaṇḍa, in the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa, a collection of eighty-one thousand verses. // 54
