Chapter 70

6.3.70.1

Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya said:
On the north bank of the Revā is a supremely beautiful sacred ford,
fashioned by Ravi, O son of Pṛthā, which destroys all sins.

6.3.70.2

The sun remains there on the northern bank by his own portion;
abiding at the Narmadā, he removes all disease for men.

6.3.70.3

On every sixth, O best of kings, as well as on the eighth and the fourteenth,
whatever mortal takes a bath and performs a śrāddha for the deceased spirits with devotion,
his sin is destroyed, O son of Pṛthā, and he is honored in the world of the sun.

6.3.70.4

Then, having fallen from heaven, he too is born in an immaculate family;
wealthy and freed from disease, he lives birth after birth.

6.3.70.4_2

Thus ends the seventieth chapter, entitled "The Description of the Greatness of Ravitīrtha," in the Revākhaṇḍa of the fifth section, the Āvantyakhaṇḍa, in the glorious Skandapurāṇa, a collection of eighty-one thousand [verses].
