6.3.75.1
The venerable Mārkaṇḍeya said:
On the southern bank of the Narmadā is an exceedingly splendid sacred ford, / well known in the circle of the earth by the name of Śaṅkhacūḍa.
6.3.75.2
Śaṅkhacūḍa himself stayed there, O son of Pāṇḍu, / through fear of Garuḍa, O son of Pṛthā, on the delight-giving bank of the Narmadā.
6.3.75.3
Whoever, having become pure and concentrated in mind, with devotion at that sacred ford / bathes Śaṅkhacūḍa with milk, honey, and clarified butter,
6.3.75.4
should keep a night vigil before the god, O ruler of men. / Having honoured with curd and boiled rice brahmins of praised vows, / this best of twice-borns, upon the gift of a cow, effects the destruction of all sins.
6.3.75.5
Whoever, O son of Pṛthā, makes water offerings at that sacred ford for one bitten by a snake, / goes to the supreme realm, according to the word of Śaṅkara.
6.3.75.5_1
