oṅkārādīn mahābhāgā ūcuḥ prāñjalayo vacaḥ ||
All of them, abandoning their respective opinions, bowing down to and worshipping them,
addressed the exalted ones, beginning with the Oṅkāra, with joined palms:

munibhirjanasaṅghaiśca gatā bhavatha niścitam ||
Indeed, along with the leaders of the gods, the sages, and the crowds of people,
you have certainly reached the further shore of the Brahmayajña.

prahlāda tuṣṭuvurvedamukhyāṃste harṣasaṃyutāḥ ||
Having spoken thus with special reverence, the exalted ones, the gods and others,
joyfully praised those principal Vedas, O Prahlāda.
3.48.7.p1

3.48.12
saṃśrutaṃ māturudarasaṃsthena sakalaṃ tataḥ |
mayā dhṛtaṃ viśeṣeṇa tadevaṃ yogadāyakam ||
All that was heard by me while staying in my mother's womb, / and was retained especially by me, bestowing yoga in this way.
3.48.13
pūrvapuṇyabalenaiva smṛtirme'tra prasaṃsthitā |
janito'hamato viprā bhajāmi gaṇanāyakam ||
By the power of past merits alone, my memory remained established in this. / Therefore, having been born, O Brahmins, I worship the leader of the Gaṇas.
3.48.14
etat sarvaṃ mayā proktaṃ yatpṛṣṭaṃ gurumukhyakāḥ |
ato me mohadāṃ vidyāṃ mā vadeta dayāyutāḥ ||

3.48.17
pitāmaho mahābhāga durbuddhiste mahāsuraḥ |
gaṇeśena hato roṣāddevapakṣapradhāriṇā ||
O highly fortunate one, your grandfather, the great asura of wicked intellect, / was killed in anger by Gaṇeśa, who took the side of the gods.
3.48.18
taṃ dveṣṭi gaṇarājaṃ ca pitā te pitṛvatsala |
pitṛdruhaṃ tatastvaṃ taṃ tyaja vighneśamādarāt ||
And your father hates that king of the Gaṇas, O lover of your father; / therefore, with respect [for your father], abandon that Vighneśa who injured your forebear.
3.48.19
nocettvāṃ te pitā putra haniṣyati na saṃśayaḥ |
tasmādāgrahamatyantaṃ mā kuruṣva mahāmate ||

sthāpitāḥ svasvamārgeṣu sthātavyaṃ tairhitepsubhiḥ ||
By him the gods were placed in heaven, humans on earth, and the lords of the Daityas in the netherworld, / each on their own paths; they who desire their welfare should stay there.
3.48.24
pitāmahaśca me viprāstrilokī rājyamutkaṭam |
cakāra dharmahīnaḥ sa tasmāttena hato balāt ||
And my grandfather, O Brahmins, ruled fiercely over the three worlds / devoid of dharma; therefore, he was forcefully killed by him.
3.48.25
pitā me'pi tathā viprā dharmahīnatayā sthitaḥ |
taṃ haniṣyati vegena gaṇeśo nātra saṃśayaḥ ||
My father too, O Brahmins, remains devoid of dharma; / Gaṇeśa will quickly kill him, there is no doubt in this.

svadharmasya priyeṇaiva māṃ vadeta viśeṣataḥ ||
Therefore, what perverse thing has been done by the king of the Gaṇas, O twice-born ones, / by he who holds one's own dharma dear? Tell me specifically.

sarveṣāṃ hitakartā'sau vighnarājo na saṃśayaḥ |
taṃ bhajiṣyāmi yatnena tyaktvā svapitaraṃ khalam ||
He is the benefactor of all, the king of obstacles, without a doubt; / having abandoned my wicked father, I will diligently worship him.

buddheḥ patergaṇeśasya sattā sarvatra vartate |
siddheḥ paterna sandehaḥ kiṃ kariṣyati māṃ pitā ||

3.48.31
svadharmaḥ sarvabhūtānāṃ dharmakāmārthamuktaye |
brahmabhūyārthamatyantaṃ gaṇeśabhajanātmakaḥ ||
For all beings, one's own dharma consists in the worship of Gaṇeśa, / for the sake of dharma, desire, wealth, and liberation, and exceedingly for the state of Brahman.

taṃ tādṛśaṃ svadharmaṃ kiṃ tyaktvā viṣayalampaṭaḥ |
bhaviṣyāmyasurādhīno brāhmaṇāḥ kulapāṃsavaḥ ||
Having abandoned such dharma of my own, shall I become a lover of sensual pleasures, / subject to the asuras, O Brahmins who are the disgrace of your family?
3.48.33
na brāhmaṇā bhavanto'pi viṣayeṣu parāyaṇāḥ |
tyaktvā dharmaṃ sthitā atra daityādhīnā na saṃśayaḥ ||
Even you are not Brahmins, being devoted to sensual pleasures; / having abandoned dharma, you remain here subject to the Daityas, there is no doubt.
3.48.34
gaṇeśabhajane saktā brahmabhūyaparāyaṇāḥ |
brāhmaṇāste matāḥ śāstre kiṃ māṃ vadatha bāliśāḥ ||
