śravaṇamāhātmyavarṇanaṃ nāma pañcacatvāriṃśattamo'dhyāyaḥ
5.45.p1
śrīgaṇeśāya namaḥ ||
Homage to the glorious Gaṇeśa!
5.45.1
dakṣa uvāca |
gaṇeśakīlakaṃ brahman vada sarvārthadāyakam |
mantrādīnāṃ viśeṣeṇa siddhidaṃ pūrṇabhāvataḥ ||
Dakṣa said:
O Brahman, declare the pin of Gaṇeśa that grants all ends,
and especially grants accomplishment through mantras and the like, by virtue of its fullness of being.
5.45.2
mudgala uvāca |
kīlakena vihīnāśca mantrā naiva sukhapradāḥ |
ādau kīlakamevaṃ vai paṭhitvā japamācaret ||
Mudgala said:
Mantras devoid of the pin do not grant happiness at all.
Having recited the pin first in this way, one should perform the repetition [of the mantra].
5.45.3
tadā vīryayutā mantrā nānāsiddhipradāyakāḥ |
bhavanti nātra sandehaḥ kathayāmi yathāśrutam ||
Then mantras are endowed with potency and become grantors of various accomplishments;
there is no doubt about this. I shall tell it as I heard it.
5.45.4
samādiṣṭaṃ cāṅgirasā mahyaṃ guhyatamaṃ param |
siddhidaṃ vai gaṇeśasya kīlakaṃ śṛṇu mānada ||
Listen, O honor-giver, to the most secret and supreme pin of Gaṇeśa,
which grants accomplishment, as was instructed to me by Aṅgiras:
5.45.5
asya śrīgaṇeśakīlakasya |
śiva ṛṣiḥ |
anuṣṭup chandaḥ |
śrīgaṇapatirdevatā |
oṃ gaṃ yogāya svāhā |
oṃ gaṃ bījam |
vidyā'vidyāśaktigaṇapatiprītyarthe jape viniyogaḥ |
chandaṛṣyādinyāsāṃśca kuryādādau tathā parān |
ekākṣarasyaiva dakṣa ṣaḍaṅgānācaret sudhīḥ ||
Of this glorious pin of Gaṇeśa:
Śiva is the seer;
the meter is Anuṣṭubh;
the deity is the glorious Gaṇapati;
"Oṃ gaṃ yogāya svāhā";
"Oṃ gaṃ" is the seed-syllable;
the ritual application in repetition is for the pleasure of Gaṇapati, who has the power of knowledge and ignorance.
O Dakṣa, the wise person should first perform the installations of the meter, the seer, and the rest, and then the other [installations];
he should perform the six-limb installation of the single-syllable mantra itself.
5.45.6
tato dhyāyed gaṇeśānaṃ jyotīrūpadharaṃ param |
manovāṇīvihīnaṃ ca caturbhujavirājitam ||
Then he should meditate upon Gaṇeśa, supreme, bearing the form of light,
beyond mind and speech, and adorned with four arms,
5.45.7
śuṇḍādaṇḍamukhaṃ pūrṇaṃ draṣṭuṃ naiva praśakyate |
vidyā'vidyāsamāyuktaṃ vibhūtibhirupāsitam ||
whose face has the trunk as a staff, complete, whom it is not possible to see,
accompanied by knowledge and ignorance, attended upon by superhuman powers.
5.45.8
khaṃ. 5 a. 45 pāna 109) evaṃ dhyātvā gaṇeśānaṃ mānasaiḥ pūjayet pṛthak |
pañcopacārakairdakṣa tato japaṃ samācaret ||
Having thus meditated upon the lord Gaṇeśa, O Dakṣa, one should worship him individually with mental offerings,
with the five articles of worship, and then perform the repetition.
5.45.9
ekaviṃśativāraṃ tu japaṃ kuryāt prajāpate |
tataḥ stotraṃ samuccārya paścāt sarvaṃ samācaret ||
O Prajāpati, one should perform the repetition twenty-one times.
Then, having recited the hymn of praise, one should perform everything afterwards:
