yogidhyeyaṃ gaṇeśasya rūpaṃ sarvatra sammatam |
dhyātuṃ tvayogibhiḥ śakyaṃ pratyakṣaṃ nā'tra saṃśayaḥ ||
Dakṣa said: / The form of Gaṇeśa that is to be meditated upon by yogins is accepted everywhere; / but can it be directly meditated upon by non-yogins? There is no doubt about this.
8.50.2
kathaṃ vedādiṣu proktaṃ yogidhyeyamanuttamam |
vada tat kāraṇaṃ vipra saṃśayasyāpanuttaye ||
Why is it proclaimed in the Vedas and other texts as unexcelled, to be meditated upon by yogins? / Speak of that cause, O Brahmin, for the dispelling of doubt.

tatra bhedaṃ pravakṣyāmi śṛṇuṣvaikāgramānasaḥ ||
Yogins specifically know him as having the form of yoga. / I will declare the distinction therein; listen with a one-pointed mind.
8.50.6
samaṣṭivyaṣṭirūpākhyaṃ brahma vede prakīrtitam |
kumbhasthale gaṇeśasya paśyanti tanmaye ca te ||
Brahman is proclaimed in the Veda as having both collective and individual forms; / they see it in the cranial temples of Gaṇeśa, which consist of that.
8.50.7
trividhaṃ vividhaṃ dakṣa trinetre saṅgataṃ mahaḥ |
paśyanti yoginastasya gaṇeśasya mahātmanaḥ ||
The threefold and manifold splendour joined in the three eyes, O Dakṣa— / yogins see that in him, the great-souled Gaṇeśa.
8.50.8
mahākāraṇarūpā tu śuṇḍā tasya prakīrtitā |
binduḥ kaṇṭhastathā dantaḥ so'haṃ mātrātmakaḥ smṛtaḥ ||

dvau pādau gaṇarājasya paśyanti yoginaḥ kila ||

these, indeed, yogins perceive as the two feet of the king of Gaṇas.
8.50.11
saṃhārākhyaṃ ca yadbrahma paraśustasya śobhanaḥ |
niyantrākhyaṃ tathā dakṣa aṅkuśaśca mahātmanaḥ ||
And the Brahman called destruction is his splendid battle-axe;
likewise, O Dakṣa, [Brahman] called the controller is the great-souled one's goad.

siddhirmāye vadantyeva yogino yogabhāvataḥ ||
Intellect consists of the five faculties of thought; perfection there consists of the illusion of sovereignty;
they are Māyā—so indeed yogins say through the disposition of yoga.
