8.6.p1
śrīgaṇeśāya namaḥ ||
Homage to the glorious Gaṇeśa.
8.6.1
śrīśiva uvāca |
śukraṃ praṇamya nītijñaṃ bhayasaṅkulito'suraḥ |
ahaṅkāro jagādedaṃ vacanaṃ svahitārthakam ||
The glorious Śiva said: / Bowing to Śukra, who is skilled in polity, the asura / Ahaṅkāra, overwhelmed with fear, spoke these words for his own welfare.
8.6.2
ahaṅkāra ucāca |
svāmin me varadānaṃ yanniṣphalaṃ prababhūva tat |
amoghāstramayaṃ kiṃ tvaṃ vada saṃśayakaṃ nuda ||
Ahaṅkāra said:
"O master, why has my boon become fruitless, / though it consisted of unfailing weapons? Tell me, dispelling my doubt.
8.6.3
dhūmravarṇaḥ samāyāto devapakṣapravardhanaḥ |
māyāmayaḥ kathaṃ so'pi niṣphalaṃ māṃ cakāra ha ||
Dhūmravarṇa has arrived, advancing the side of the gods. / How has he, who is composed of māyā, rendered me fruitless?"
8.6.4
śukra uvāca |
ahaṃ tvaṃ mūrkhabhāvena manyase dhūmravarṇakam |
māyāmayaṃ viśeṣeṇa na jānāsi gajānanam ||
Śukra said:
"Through your foolishness, Ahaṃ, you think Dhūmravarṇa / is merely composed of māyā; you do not know Gajānana in reality.
8.6.5
māyāyuktavihīnatvaṃ tatra naiva pravartate |
yogākāraṃ gaṇeśānaṃ vadante vedavādinaḥ ||
Being associated with māyā or devoid of it does not apply to him at all. / The exponents of the Vedas declare Gaṇeśa to be the embodiment of yoga.
8.6.6
haniṣyati samākruddhastvāmayaṃ dhūmravarṇakaḥ |
atastaṃ tvaṃ gaṇeśānaṃ śaraṇaṃ yāhi daityapa ||
This Dhūmravarṇa, greatly enraged, will slay you; / therefore, go for refuge to that Gaṇeśa, O ruler of Daityas!
8.6.7
dhūmreṇāvṛtamevaṃ yad dṛśyate na janairyathā |
tathā vastu gaṇeśānaṃ na jānanti śivādayaḥ ||
Just as an object covered with smoke is not seen by people, / so even Śiva and the other gods do not know the real entity that is Gaṇeśa.
8.6.8
varṇā vedasvarūpāśca dhūmrā jātā ivā''babhuḥ |
ajñānatvāttataścāyamavyakto dhūmravarṇakaḥ ||
The letters that embody the Vedas appeared as though covered in smoke / because of ignorance; therefore this unmanifest one is called Dhūmravarṇa.
8.6.9
sahajaṃ brahma yat proktaṃ svādhīnaṃ brahmasu param |
tasya kiṃ varadānasyollaṅghanaṃ durghaṭaṃ bhavet ||
For that innate Brahman which is declared independent, supreme among Brahmans, / how could the transgression of a boon be difficult?
8.6.10
svecchayā varadānaṃ vai saphalaṃ niṣphalaṃ bhavet |
tadeva dhūmravarṇo'yaṃ sahajo neti vācakaḥ ||
By his own will, a boon becomes fruitful or fruitless. / That very innate one is this Dhūmravarṇa, not [limited to] mere words.
8.6.11
avināśipadaṃ yacca gajākhyaṃ brahma kathyate |
tadeva mastakaṃ tasya gaṇeśasya mahātmanaḥ ||
The imperishable state which is called elephant-Brahman— / that very state is the head of that great-souled Gaṇeśa.
8.6.12
nāśarūpaṃ jagat sarvaṃ dehastasya na saṃśayaḥ |
dhūmravarṇastayoryoge dehadhārī babhūva ha ||
The entire universe, which is perishable by nature, is his body—there is no doubt. / In the union of the two, Dhūmravarṇa assumed a physical form.
8.6.13
pañcacittamayī buddhirdakṣiṇāṅge vyavasthitā |
cittabhrāntikarī siddhirvāmāṅge rājate sadā ||
Intellect, consisting of the fivefold mind, resides in his right flank; / perfection, causing delusion of the mind, shines forever in his left flank.
8.6.14
tayoḥ svāmī gaṇeśāno māyābhyāṃ krīḍati prabhuḥ |
taṃ gaccha śaraṇaṃ tāta tadā saukhyamavāpsyasi ||
The master of both, the lord Gaṇeśa, sports with these two māyās. / Go to him for refuge, dear child; then you will obtain happiness.
8.6.15
svasaṃvedyena yogena darśanaṃ tasya jāyate |
yogināṃ gaṇanāthasya tena svānandapālakaḥ ||
Through yoga knowable only to oneself, the vision of him arises; / of that Gaṇanātha of yogins, he is therefore the protector of Svānanda.
8.6.16
na te yaśo mahārāja bhaviṣyati kadācana |
surāsuramayo ḍhuṇḍhiḥ śaraṇaṃ tasya gacchatu ||
No fame will ever come to you, O great king; / Ḍhuṇḍhi is composed of gods and asuras; go to him for refuge.
8.6.16.p1
surāḥ svargeṣu tenaiva sthāpitā mānavā bhuvi |
(
By him alone were the gods established in heaven and human beings on earth; / (
8.6.17
khaṃ. 8 a. 6 pāna 13) asurā vivareṣveva trividhaṃ dharmasaṃyutam ||
Khaṇḍa 8, Adhyāya 6, page 13) and the asuras in the underworlds—a threefold [order] endowed with dharma.
8.6.18
svasvadharmaṃ parityajya lobhayuktāḥ surā'surāḥ |
bhavanti cettadā'yaṃ tu teṣāṃ śāstā bhavatyaho ||
If gods and asuras abandon their respective dharma and become filled with greed, / then, lo, he becomes their chastiser.
8.6.19
devairdaityā jitāḥ sarve pātālaṃ gatya mānada |
tadā tvāṃ sa vinirmāya devavighnaparo'bhavat ||
When all the Daityas had been conquered by the gods and went to the netherworld, O proud one, / he then created you and became intent on causing obstacles to the gods.
8.6.20
tvamapi dharmalopena varṇāśramaparāṅmukhaḥ |
devanāśārthamatyantamudyukto'si khalottama ||
You too, through the destruction of dharma, turned away from the classes and stages of life, / and have become exceedingly eager to destroy the gods, O best of villains!
8.6.21
atastvāṃ hantumevaṃ sa samāyāto gajānanaḥ |
svadharmasthasya te nāśaṃ na kariṣyati vighnapaḥ ||
Therefore Gajānana has come like this to slay you; / but if you abide in your own dharma, the lord of obstacles will not cause your destruction.
8.6.22
trividhaṃ trividhe bhāve saṃsthitaṃ dharmasaṃyutam |
tadā'yaṃ buddhināthaśca buddhau nityaṃ sthito bhavet ||
When the threefold [order] is established in threefold being and endowed with dharma, / then this lord of intellect remains ever situated in the intellect.
8.6.23
atastasya gaṇeśasya śaraṇaṃ gaccha daityapa |
brahmākāraṃ ca sarvatra surāsurapravartakam ||
Therefore go for refuge to that Gaṇeśa, O ruler of Daityas, / who has the form of Brahman everywhere and sets gods and asuras in motion."
8.6.24
śrīśiva uvāca |
kāvyasya vacanaṃ śrutvā harṣayukto'hamādarāt |
praṇamya taṃ punaḥ prāha saṃśayasyāpanuttaye ||
Śrī Śiva said:
"Hearing the words of Kāvya, Ahaṃ, filled with joy, / respectfully bowed to him and spoke again to remove his doubt.
8.6.25
ahamuvāca |
śaraṇaṃ dhūmravarṇasya gamiṣyāmi tvadājñayā |
surāsuramayasyaiva tathā'pi nuda saṃśayam ||
Ahaṃ said:
'By your command I will go for refuge to Dhūmravarṇa, / who consists indeed of gods and asuras; even so, dispel my doubt.
8.6.26
siddhibuddhi samā māyā vidyate naiva niścitam |
prakṛtyā saṃyuto nityaṃ gaṇeśānaḥ prakhelati ||
Certainly there is no māyā equal to Siddhi and Buddhi; / united eternally with Prakṛti, Gaṇeśa sports.
8.6.27
sarvapūjyaśca sarvādau sammato brahmanāyakaḥ |
śrīśabdena samāyuktaḥ kathaṃ śrīrmukhyatāṃ gatā ||
He is worshipful by all, the lord of Brahman, acknowledged first of all; / he is joined with the word Śrī: how has Śrī attained primacy?
8.6.28
siddhiṃ buddhiṃ parityajya śriyaṃ cauṅkārakaṃ tathā |
vikalpena samāgṛhya tiṣṭhate gaṇanāyakaḥ ||
Setting aside Siddhi and Buddhi, the lord of gaṇas remains, / conceptually grasping Śrī and the sound Oṃ.
8.6.29
anye sarve tathā vipra prakṛtyā śrīsvarūpayā |
yuktā bhavanti śāstreṣu kimidaṃ kautukaṃ vada ||
Likewise, O brāhmaṇa, in the scriptures all other [deities] / are joined with Prakṛti in the form of Śrī. Tell me: what is this wonder?
8.6.30
ataḥ śrīryat samā devī vidyate naiva niścitam |
bhāti sarvatra vedeṣu tathauṅkārātmikā parā ||
Therefore, surely no goddess exists equal to Śrī; / she shines everywhere in the Vedas, supreme, having the nature of the syllable Oṃ.'
8.6.31
śukra uvāca |
gakāraḥ siddhirūpaśca ṇakāro buddhivācakaḥ |
tayoḥ svāmī gaṇeśāno yogākāraḥ pradṛśyate ||
Śukra said:
"The syllable 'ga' has the form of Siddhi, and the syllable 'ṇa' designates Buddhi; / the lord of the two is Gaṇeśa, who is seen as the embodiment of yoga.
8.6.32
yathā māyāyutaṃ brahma māyāyā bhinnakaṃ na ca |
māyā saiva sadā brahma brahma māyā na saṃśayaḥ ||
Just as Brahman joined with māyā is not distinct from māyā, / and that very māyā is always Brahman, and Brahman is māyā—there is no doubt—
8.6.33
tathā siddhiśca buddhiśca gaṇeśo daityanāyaka |
ekarūpo na sandeho yogastenāyamucyate ||
so too are Siddhi, Buddhi, and Gaṇeśa, O leader of Daityas; / they are of one form, there is no doubt; therefore this is called yoga.
8.6.34
siddhirbuddhirgaṇeśāno jñānināṃ trividhaṃ param |
bhāti yogamayaṃ cāpi vicāraya vicakṣaṇa ||
Siddhi, Buddhi, and Gaṇeśa appear to the wise as the supreme triad / and also as composed of yoga; consider this, O discerning one!
8.6.35
ataḥ siddheśca buddheścopāsanaṃ nātra vidyate |
bhinnaṃ gaṇapatestasmāt trividhaṃ nāsti niścitam ||
Therefore, worship of Siddhi and Buddhi does not exist here / as distinct from Gaṇapati; consequently, no triad exists in reality.
8.6.36
gaṇeśapūjanenaiva trividhaṃ pūjitaṃ bhavet |
prakṛtiḥ puruṣākārastatra naiva pradṛśyate ||
By the worship of Gaṇeśa alone, the triad becomes worshipped; / Prakṛti having the form of Puruṣa is not seen there as separate.
8.6.37
vāmāṅgaṃ prakṛtyākāraṃ dakṣiṇāṅgaṃ ca pummayam |
siddhiṃ buddhiṃ vijānīhi tayoryoge gaṇeśvaraḥ ||
His left flank has the form of Prakṛti, and his right flank consists of Puruṣa; / know them as Siddhi and Buddhi; in their union stands the lord of gaṇas.
8.6.38
sarveṣāṃ vāmabhāge ca prakṛtiḥ saṃsthitā'bhavat |
gaṇeśasyobhayāṅge tu prakṛtiḥ parikīrtitā ||
In all [other deities], Prakṛti is situated on the left side; / but in both flanks of Gaṇeśa, Prakṛti is proclaimed to reside.
8.6.39
ekarūpadharā māyā siddhibuddhimayī parā |
bhinnabhogārthamānandāt sṛṣṭiṃ kartuṃ manodadhe ||
The supreme Māyā, bearing a single form and consisting of Siddhi and Buddhi, / set her mind to creation out of bliss, for the sake of diverse experience.
8.6.40
siddheraṅgāt samutpannā śrīḥ sarvaśobhayā yutā |
buddheraṅgāttathauṅkāraprakṛtiḥ prababhūva ha ||
From the limb of Siddhi was born Śrī, endowed with all beauty; / and from the limb of Buddhi arose the Prakṛti of the syllable Oṃ.
8.6.41
tābhyāṃ tapaḥ kṛtaṃ ghoraṃ svasvajñānaprasiddhaye |
yasmai kasmai namo nityaṃ mantraṃ japtvā svamūlakam ||
The two performed fierce tapas for the accomplishment of their respective knowledge, / constantly chanting their root mantra: 'Homage to whomever it may be.'
8.6.42
khaṃ. 8 a. 6 pāna 14) tatastayorhṛdisthaṃ yadbrahma māyāpracālakam |
prasannaṃ jātamatyantaṃ svarūpaṃ svamadarśayat ||
(Khaṇḍa 8, Adhyāya 6, page 14) Then Brahman, which was seated in their hearts and the impeller of māyā, / became exceedingly pleased and revealed its own form.
8.6.43
tata ekākṣaraṃ mantraṃ gaṇeśasya mahātmanaḥ |
dṛṣṭvā tābhyāṃ hṛdisthaṃ svaṃ tejorūpaṃ sukhapradam ||
Then, having seen in their hearts their own single-syllable mantra of the great-souled Gaṇeśa, / luminous and conferring bliss,
8.6.44
tatastanaiva mantreṇa toṣayāmāsatuḥ param |
gaṇeśaṃ te mahābhāge hyādimāye taponvite ||
the two greatly fortunate primordial Māyās, endowed with tapas, / supremely gratified Gaṇeśa with that very mantra.
8.6.45
divyavarṣasahasreṇa prasanno gaṇanāyakaḥ |
varān dātuṃ samāyātaḥ siddhibuddhisamanvitaḥ ||
After a thousand divine years, the leader of gaṇas was pleased / and arrived, accompanied by Siddhi and Buddhi, to grant boons.
8.6.46
narakuñjararūpaṃ tat dṛṣṭvā vismitamānase |
māye babhūvatustatra vicāraṃ cakraturhṛdi ||
Seeing that form of man and elephant, the two Māyās were astonished in mind / and reflected within their hearts.
8.6.47
gaṇeśakṛpayā sadyo jñātaṃ jātaṃ mahādbhutam |
tapasograprabhāveṇa jñātaṃ tābhyāṃ rahasyakam ||
By the grace of Gaṇeśa, a great wonder was instantly realized; / through the mighty power of their fierce tapas, the secret was understood by the two.
8.6.48
siddhibuddhiyutaṃ taṃ te vīkṣya cotthāya satvaram |
praṇematurgaṇeśānaṃ pūjya stotraṃ pracakratuḥ ||
Seeing him accompanied by Siddhi and Buddhi, they rose quickly, / bowed to the lord Gaṇeśa, and, having worshipped [him], uttered a hymn of praise.
8.6.49
śryoṅkārāvūcatuḥ |
namaste gaṇanāthāya sarvasiddhipradāyaka |
siddhibuddhiyutāyaiva gaṇānāṃ pataye namaḥ ||
Śrī and Oṅkāra said: / "Salutations to you, the Lord of Ganas, giver of all perfections! / To the one accompanied by Siddhi and Buddhi, salutations to the Lord of Ganas!
8.6.50
svānandapataye tubhyaṃ kartṝṇāṃ kartṛrūpiṇe |
anāthāya sanāthānāṃ namo nāthāya te namaḥ ||
Salutations to you, the lord of Svānanda, possessing the form of the creator of creators, / without a lord, yet the lord of those who have a lord! Salutations to you!
8.6.51
pareśāya pareṣāṃ ca pālakāya parātmane |
ātmanāmamṛtāyaiva vighneśāya namo namaḥ ||
To the supreme lord, the protector of the highest, the supreme self, / the nectar of selves, to Vighneśa, salutations, salutations!
8.6.52
lambodarāya devāya devadeveśarūpiṇe |
devebhyo devatāṃ dātre gajānanāya te namaḥ ||
To Lambodara, the god having the form of the lord of the god of gods, / the giver of divinity to the gods, to Gajānana, salutations to you!
8.6.53
jyeṣṭharājāya sarveṣāmādipūjyāya ḍhuṇḍhaye |
anāmanāya nityāya sarveśāya namo namaḥ ||
To Jyeṣṭharāja, the first to be worshipped among all, to Ḍhuṇḍhi, / nameless, eternal, the Lord of All, salutations, salutations!
8.6.54
brahmabhyo brahmadātre te brahmaṇe brahmarūpiṇe |
brahmaṇaspataye tubhyaṃ pūrṇayogāya te namaḥ ||
To you who give Brahman to Brahmans, who are Brahman, having the form of Brahman, / to Brahmaṇaspati, to you of complete yoga, salutations!
8.6.55
yogaśāntimayāyaiva cintāmaṇisvarūpiṇe |
anantāyādirūpāya cāntaḥsthāya namo namaḥ ||
To the one consisting of the peace of yoga, having the nature of the wish-fulfilling jewel, / boundless, having the primal form, dwelling within, salutations, salutations!
8.6.56
kiṃ stuvastvāṃ gaṇādhīśa yogaśāntidharaṃ param |
yatra vedādayaḥ śāntiṃ prāptā yogaparāyaṇāḥ ||
How may we praise you, Gaṇādhīśa, the supreme bearer of the peace of yoga, / in whom the Vedas and the rest, intent on yoga, have attained peace?
8.6.57
manovāṇīmayo naiva manovāṇīvivarjitaḥ |
naiva tvaṃ te namo nātha prasanno bhava sarvadā ||
You do not consist of mind and speech, nor are you devoid of mind and speech; / you are not [limited by either]. Salutations to you, O Lord! Be gracious at all times!"
8.6.58
evamuktvā gaṇādhīśaṃ praṇematurmahāsura |
śryauṅkārau tau samutthāpya jagāda gaṇanāyakaḥ ||
Having spoken thus, O great asura, they bowed to Gaṇādhīśa. / Raising the two of them, Śrī and Auṅkāra, the leader of the Ganas said:
8.6.59
śrīgaṇeśa uvāca |
varān brūtaṃ mahābhāge mahāmāye hṛdīpsitān |
dāsyāmi tapasā tuṣṭaḥ stotreṇāhaṃ viśeṣataḥ ||
The venerable Gaṇeśa said: / "Ask for the boons desired in your hearts, O fortunate ones, O great Māyās! / Pleased by your austerity, and especially by your hymn of praise, I shall grant [them].
8.6.60
stotraṃ bhavatkṛtaṃ me vai sarvasiddhipradāyakam |
paṭhate śṛṇvate nityaṃ prabhavedbhuktimuktidam ||
This hymn of praise composed by you for me shall indeed bestow all perfections; / for whoever recites or listens to it daily, it will grant enjoyment and liberation.
8.6.61
brahmabhūyakaraṃ pūrṇaṃ śryoṅkārayaśasānvitam |
mama priyakaraṃ pūrṇaṃ bhaktivardhanakaṃ bhavet ||
It completely brings about identity with Brahman, is endowed with the glory of Śrī and Oṅkāra, / is wholly pleasing to me, and increases devotion."
8.6.62
gaṇeśavacanaṃ śrutvocatuḥśryoṅkārakau param |
gaṇeśabhaktisaṃyukto bhakteśaṃ bhaktavatsalam ||
Having heard the words of Gaṇeśa, the two, Śrī and Oṅkāra, full of devotion to Gaṇeśa, / spoke further to the Lord of devotees, the lover of devotees.
8.6.63
śryauṅkārāvūcatuḥ |
tvayi bhaktiṃ sthiraṃ dehi yogaśāntipradāyikām |
saṅkalpasiddhisāmarthyaṃ dāsyaṃ te pādapadmayoḥ ||
Śrī and Auṅkāra said: / "Grant firm devotion to you, which bestows the peace of yoga, / the power to accomplish intentions, and servitude at your lotus feet.
8.6.64
yathā siddhiśca buddhiśca tvayā sammānite prabho |
tathā''vāṃ te priye nātha kuruṣva gaṇanāyaka ||
Just as Siddhi and Buddhi are honored by you, O Lord, / so make the two of us dear to you, O Lord, O leader of the Ganas!
8.6.65
asmadīyaṃ vaśe sarvaṃ jagadbrahma kuru prabho |
āvābhyāṃ mohitaṃ sarvaṃ bhavatu tvatprasādataḥ ||
Subject the entire universe [and] Brahman to our control, O Lord; / let everything be deluded by the two of us through your grace.
8.6.66
tvadīyabhajanenaiva moho hyasmatkṛtaḥ paraḥ |
nāśaṃ yātu sadā deva nānyathā yogakāribhiḥ ||
Only by devotion to you may this highest delusion wrought by us / always be destroyed, O God, and not otherwise by practitioners of yoga.
8.6.67
śivaviṣṇumukhā devā mohayuktā bhavantu ca |
asmadarthaṃ sadā bhrāntā yatnayuktā bhavantu vai ||
And let the gods, headed by Śiva and Viṣṇu, be filled with delusion; / for our sake let them always be confused and engaged in strivings."
8.6.68
khaṃ. 8 a. 6 pāna 15) śrīgaṇeśa uvāca |
bhavatībhyāṃ vṛtāḥ sarve varāḥ sudurlabhāḥ parāḥ |
dattā mayā viśeṣeṇa mohayetamidaṃ jagat ||
Section 8, Chapter 6, page 15) The venerable Gaṇeśa said: / "All the highest boons chosen by you, which are very difficult to attain, / have been granted by me especially: you may delude this world.
8.6.69
māyābhyāṃ siddhibuddhibhyāṃ racitaṃ vividhaṃ jagat |
brahma nānāvidhaṃ devyau tatrā'haṃ bimbito'bhavam ||
The manifold world has been fashioned by the two Māyās, Siddhi and Buddhi; / in that manifold Brahman, O goddesses, I have become reflected.
8.6.70
bimbaṃ me mohayuktaṃ tannānābhāvaparāyaṇam |
mama bhaktisvabhāvena mohahīnaṃ bhavet sadā ||
That reflection of mine is accompanied by delusion and devoted to various states of being; / by the nature of devotion to me, it shall always become free from delusion.
8.6.71
mama bimbasya bhārye tu saṃśayo na bhaviṣyathaḥ |
tena yukte mahāmāye bandhamokṣau kariṣyathaḥ ||
You two will undoubtedly become the wives of my reflection; / united with it, O great Māyās, you will bring about bondage and liberation.
8.6.72
siddhibuddhiyuto'haṃ tu brahmabhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ |
na tatra yogyatā devyau bhavatyormohanātmanoḥ ||
I, however, joined with Siddhi and Buddhi, am eternal, identical with Brahman; / there is no fitness there, O goddesses, for the two of you whose essence is delusion."
8.6.73
evamuktvā gaṇādhīśoṃ'tardhānaṃ vai cakāra ha |
māye taṃ manasā dhyātvā saṃsthite tatra daityapa ||
Having spoken thus, Gaṇādhīśa disappeared. / Meditating upon him in their minds, the two Māyās remained there, O king of the Daityas.
8.6.74
tato gaṇeśabimbaṃ yat patitaṃ tattayorhṛdi |
tena yukte caturdhedaṃ cakraturbhedanātmake ||
Then, that reflection of Gaṇeśa which had fallen into their hearts— / united with it, those two whose nature is differentiation made this [creation] fourfold.
8.6.75
bāhyasaukhyakarī māyā caturṇāṃ jagatāṃ kila |
brahmaṇāṃ deharūpā ca śrīḥ sarvatra prakīrtitā ||
The Māyā who produces external happiness for the four worlds / and has the form of the body of the Brahmans is proclaimed everywhere as Śrī.
8.6.76
caturṇāṃ jagatāṃ tadvadbrahmaṇāṃ jñānarūpiṇī |
oṅkārātmakarūpā sā māyā sarvatra saṃsthitā ||
Likewise, the Māyā who has the nature of knowledge for the four worlds of Brahman, / whose form consists of Oṅkāra, is established everywhere.
8.6.77
tābhyāṃ yukto gaṇeśānaḥ krīḍate vividhe rataḥ |
mohayuktavihīnatvānnānābhedaparāyaṇaḥ ||
United with those two, the lord Gaṇeśa plays, delighting in variety, / devoted to various distinctions because of being accompanied by and free from delusion.
8.6.78
ataḥ sarveṣu jīveṣu mohiteṣu mahāsura |
mohahīnātmabhāveṣu śryauṅkārau tvādisammatau ||
Therefore, O great asura, when all living beings are deluded / or in states of being free from delusion, Śrī and Auṅkāra are regarded as primal.
8.6.79
ādau prakṛtimuccārya paścāt puruṣa ucyate |
kṛtaṃ vighneśvareṇaitat jānīhi daityanāyaka ||
Prakṛti is pronounced first, and Puruṣa is spoken after; / know, O leader of the Daityas, that this was arranged by Vighneśvara.
8.6.80
kutra śrīśabdayuktaśca gaṇeśaḥ paṭhyate budhaiḥ |
tatroṅkārasamāyukto māyābhyāṃ khelanāt paraḥ ||
Where Gaṇeśa is recited by the wise as joined with the word 'Śrī', / there he is united with Oṅkāra, supreme beyond playing with the two Māyās.
8.6.81
vāmāṅge śrīrdhṛtā tena dakṣiṇāṅge mahāsura |
oṅkāro gaṇanāthasya bimbena brahmarūpiṇā ||
Śrī is held on the left side by him, O great asura, / and Oṅkāra on the right side of the Lord of Ganas through his reflection whose form is Brahman.
8.6.82
bimbaṃ sarvatra bhāveṣu tadākāraṃ babhūva ha |
ataḥ śivādayaḥ sarve jātāḥ śryoṅkārasaṃyutāḥ ||
The reflection took on that form in all states of being; / therefore Śiva and all the others have come to be accompanied by Śrī and Oṅkāra.
8.6.83
jīvā śryoṅkārasaṃyuktāḥ paṭhyante vedavādibhiḥ |
ādimāye samākhyāte bimbādhāre vicāraya ||
Living beings are taught by the expounders of the Vedas to be accompanied by Śrī and Oṅkāra; / consider these two primal Māyās as the support of the reflection.
8.6.84
ataḥ śryoṅkāramohaṃ tvaṃ tyaktvā vighneśvaraṃ bhaja |
siddhibuddhiyutaṃ tāta tena saukhyamavāpsyasi ||
Therefore, having abandoned the delusion of Śrī and Oṅkāra, worship Vighneśvara / who is accompanied by Siddhi and Buddhi, dear one; thereby you will attain happiness.
8.6.85
iti te kathitaṃ sarvaṃ dhūmravarṇasya ceṣṭitam |
gacchataṃ śaraṇaṃ daitya śāntidaṃ bhuktimuktidam ||
8.6.86
