104.1
Glorious Mārkaṇḍeya said: / Then one should go, O king, to the excellent Sauvarṇaśila, / famous on the northern bank, causing the destruction of all sins,
104.2
created of old by hosts of sages by the falling of umbrellas all around, / a place on the Revā that is difficult to attain, near the confluence,
104.3
divided into a holy field of merely a cubit's span, O ruler of men. / Having bathed at Suvarṇaśilaka and worshipped Maheśvara,
104.4
and having bowed to the god Bhāskara, an oblation should be poured into the sacrificial fire, / with bilva mixed with ghee, or else with bilva leaves, [praying:]
104.5
'May the Lord of the universe be pleased with me; may my disease surely perish!' / Listen from me to the fruit gained when gold is given to a twice-born:
104.6
Whatever excellent fruit is proclaimed for a sacrifice of abundant gold, / all that is obtained by him who offers gold.
104.7
Purified in soul by that gift, he reaches heaven upon dying, / [and remains] an attendant of Rudra as long as the fourteen Indras rule.
104.8
Then, descending from heaven, he is born into a pure family, / endowed with wealth and grain, and remembers that water again.
