203.1
The venerable Mārkaṇḍeya said:
From there, O lord of the earth, one should go to the supreme Koṭitīrtha,
where illustrious great seers numbered in tens of millions attained perfection.
203.2
Having performed extensive austerities, Śiva was installed by the seers,
as well as goddess Koṭīśvarī, Cāmuṇḍā, the crusher of Mahiṣa.
203.3
On the fourteenth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhādrapada, O king,
having summoned ten million pilgrimage places, Śiva was installed by the sages.
203.4
On that lunar day and under the asterism Hasta, which destroys all sins,
having gone to that pilgrimage place then, and having bathed with a concentrated mind,
203.5
one quickly delivers twenty-one ancestors from hell
by the offering of sesame-water—how much more a man who gives an ancestral offering?
203.6
Sacred bath, gift, recitation, oblation, Vedic study, and worship of deities—
by connection with that pilgrimage place, everything becomes multiplied ten million times.
