207.1

The glorious Mārkaṇḍeya said: / In front of it is a purifying pilgrimage place known as Svarṇabindu, / having bathed where men go to heaven, and when dead, do not return to rebirth.

207.2

One who bathes in that pilgrimage place and gives gold to a brāhmaṇa— / hear from me, O protector of the earth, the fruit that is declared for him.

207.3

Of all jewels, gold is the supreme jewel; / it originated from the fiery energy of Agni, and therefore it is the most supreme on earth.

207.4

By him indeed the entire earth with its mountains, forests, and groves, / along with its cities and towns, is given—he who offers gold.

207.5

Mental, vocal, or bodily sin committed previously / is all quickly destroyed by the gift of gold, O descendant of Bharata.

207.6

One who gives a gift of gold, even of the measure of a hair-tip, / and dies at that pilgrimage place, goes to heaven; there is no doubt about this.

207.7

Mounted on an excellent celestial chariot, honored by Vidyādharas and Siddhas, / he would dwell there until the universal dissolution.

207.8

Then, when the time is completed there, having attained an excellent human birth, / he is born as a twice-born in a home possessing crores of gold.

207.9

Freed from all diseases, honored in all worlds, / famous among the virtuous, he would live a regal life for a full hundred years.
