> For it is taught: "Now whoever venerates another deity, thinking 'He is one, and I am another,' does not know; he is like a beast to the gods"—because one who perceives difference is censured by revelation, and by reasoning as well. How could the world of women and men, submerged in the ocean of the bodily luster of you who are different from the Self, come under the control of a man who meditates thus? Or how could she of her own accord become directly present in his heart? Truly, there is no one within the body distinct from the Self—this is accepted by all, and thus the logical proof is established. What further happens to them? To this he says: "To them..." "Languishing with the fever of the bodiless god of love": languishing, their bodies rendered helpless by the great fever, the burning heat, produced by the love-god generated internally upon hearing or seeing this \[practitioner\]. "Whose eyes resemble frightened fawns": their gaze is like the gaze of a frightened, terrified young fawn, a baby deer. Even women lovely in all their limbs become submissive to them—women who would not be submissive in any way even to earthly kings who have brought the entire circle of the earth under their sway. "Surely"—this is certain. The inner sense is that the personal experience of your devotees is the very proof here.
