> We shall escape the words of mother, who conceals her heart with omens of the unnam bird,
> and we shall leave behind the gossip of settlement women with their loveless words of falsehood!
> Rejoice now—may you live, my friend!—like the bards
> who went singing of Utiyañcēral who expanded the borders of his realm!
> For today, O woman of dense tresses, he resolved to journey with us—
> having called off his journey, saying,
> "Difficult indeed for women with bamboo-like arms, five-fold fragrant hair,
> firm striped breasts, and collyrium-lined petal eyes,
> is the harsh wasteland tract where the lofty-tusked bull elephant rules the paths across the jungle,
> down the small path trampled by leaning grasses, climbing over boulders
> as if traversing the back of an exhausted elephant, in the wide expanse of lofty yā trees
> where glowing flames caught in the wind that rubbed dark bamboo stalks on every hill
> resemble the broad flames of curved fishing boats of Paratavar catching fish
> seen high upon waves that touch the sky!"
