> Looking at your body that has lost its choice beauty, your eyes
> that have shed their dark lotus charm, and your stripes of beauty
> that have faded beyond recognition, do not plunge into deep grief; desist!
> Longing for the rightful joy of giving, eagerly
> intent on acquiring wealth, heedless of the summer wilderness path
> where herds of wild sambar deer devour the sweet, sour, rounded fruit
> of the sparse-leaved, thick-trunked nelli tree, he passed
> beyond the ledges cut across by the sky-touching high umbrellas
> and well-moving chariots of the Mauryas, to let their gold-adorned wheels roll on;
> yet even so, may you live, my friend! he will not delay anywhere,
> forgetting the sweet sleep upon your breast with blossoming breasts
> that smell of the first blooms in the forest of Āay,
> lord of valiant warriors, adorned with radiant gems and immense jewels,
> who smashes many fortresses, with many choice arrows in his hand
> wrapped around his well-bowed, mighty arc, smoothed with peacock feathers
> shed by dancing, tender peafowl.
