> These two worlds, being together, moved apart.
> Between them nothing at all fell \[down\].
> Those gods and human beings grew hungry;
> for the gods live on what is given from here, and human beings on what is given from there.
> Those two, the Bṛhat and the Rathantara, said: 'Those two bodies of ours that are dear—with them let us intermarry.'
> The Śyaita indeed was in the beginning the dear body of the Rathantara, the Naudhasa of the Bṛhat.
> With those two they intermarried.
> That \[sky\] made the salt grounds from there her bridal price; this \[earth\] made smoke from here for that one.
> That \[sky\] made rain from there her bridal price; this \[earth\] made the place of sacrifice for that one.
> He knows these two with their bridal gifts, who knows thus.
> They exchanged them, woman for woman.
> Therefore they say: 'One must not marry exchanging woman for woman.'
> For such a one ascends upon the marriage of the Bṛhat and Rathantara;
> he is liable to perish.
> Those two bodies said: 'Let the two of us now intermarry through our fināles.'
