> One of the seasons, holding a hammer in hand, having come down along a ray, asks him: "Who are you, O man?"
> Knowing what would he drive him away?
> He strikes him.
> When he is repelled, his good deed is destroyed threefold.
> He takes a third \[for himself\];
> a third disperses along the quarters;
> with the \[remaining\] third he descends back to this world.
> Whatever world of his has been won by giving, in that he takes delight.
> Death indeed ultimately overtakes him from there.
> Repeated death is unconquered for him. But one who knows thus:
> When he is afflicted with illness, where he has a level, good, clear ground, there he should say: "Churn fire for me here."
> He is capable of recovering.
> And if that is not so, when he departs from this world, then they should take him.
> Having poured the fires into two different pots, they should carry an ember from the anvāhāryapacana fire.
> They should take the sacrificial utensils, ghee, water, firewood, the covering cow (anustaraṇī), a razor, and nail-clippers.
> They go to where he has a level, good, clear ground.
> There they distribute his fires.
