> Into a wilderness, as it were, go those who glide out for the Bahiṣpavamāna chant. A demon or another destructive beast would be likely to slay them. Then he makes a second offering: 'May the divine Sūrya protect me from heavenly demons, Vāta from those of the intermediate space, Agni from earthly ones, svāhā!' Having thus entrusted himself to those who are the sovereigns of these worlds, he glides out; he does not suffer harm. When Prajāpati created the sacrifice, he created it in the havirdhāna shed itself. Having been created, it ran away northward. Having reached it there, they praised it. When they bring it out and praise it with the Bahiṣpavamāna chant, it is having reached the sacrifice that they praise it. He who knows the divine courser becomes possessed of coursers. The sacrifice indeed is the divine courser. If someone mounts a human courser that is unappeased and unwiped, it either harms him or destroys him. How much more so if one should mount the divine courser unappeased and unwiped?
