> Then, as to why the midday pressing corresponds to the Triṣṭubh: the Triṣṭubh has eleven syllables, and there are eleven Rudras; by that very meter, the Triṣṭubh, Prajāpati and Indra attained reverence among the Rudra gods at the midday pressing.
> Then, as to why the third pressing corresponds to the Jagatī: the Jagatī has twelve syllables, and there are twelve Ādityas; by that very meter, the Jagatī, Prajāpati and Indra attained reverence among the Āditya gods at the third pressing.
> The Gāyatrī has eight syllables;
> the Triṣṭubh has eleven syllables;
> the Jagatī has twelve syllables;
> 'Vāc' is the finale of the Yajñāyajñīya \[sāman\];
> that makes thirty-two.
> The Anuṣṭubh has thirty-two syllables;
> the Anuṣṭubh belongs to the All-Gods;
> by that very meter, the Anuṣṭubh, Prajāpati and Indra attained reverence among the All-Gods at the third pressing.
> So many are the gods;
> so many are the classes of gods;
> it was over them that they then attained reverence.
