> A field of barley serves as the altar, for that has already been prepared. The high altar is made of barley. By means of barley indeed the Ādityas kept off the sacrifice of the Aṅgirases. Because they kept off the sacrifice with barley, that is the barley-nature of barley. With barley indeed he keeps off the sacrifice of his hateful rival. A threshing-floor peg, sword-pointed, sacred to Indra, serves as the sacrificial post, for victory. They immolate the animals together, for attainment. A male ox is the purchase-price of the soma: 'The male is vital power; may we have vital power.' It has testicles, for connection with Indra. In an earthen pot is the Vasatīvarī water, from the house of one who has sacrificed before, for it was taken previously. Having eaten something with clarified butter, he lies down; that very meal of the consecration ceremony which he eats becomes this meal for him. Without lying down \[asleep\], he lies between the thighs of his dear wife; that is his practice of ascetic heat. Placing gold in his mouth, he lies; gold is truth; truth is thus spoken by him.
