> They say: 'One should sacrifice only with a sacrifice that attains the virāj. / Food is the virāj. / King Soma is indeed the food of the gods. / Having made it food, he presents King Soma to the gods. / For when not pressed, he is not the food of the gods. / Having pressed him, making him food, he presents him to the gods. / Whatever he does for the gods here, that the gods do for him. / Being prosperous, they cause him to prosper with offspring, cattle, and nourishment.' / They say: 'The virāj should not be over-sacrificed.' / Whosoever over-sacrifices the virāj, he sits as a sacrificer again in yonder world. / Dry and rough, wishing to attain the virāj, striving and not obtaining it, he sits. / For where will he obtain that which he departs hence without having obtained? / Asito Daivala said to those sitting as if rough: 'Who are these who sit here?' / They said: 'We who have over-sacrificed the virāj.' / He addressed them: / 'He falls down from the chariot—'
