> Now the third pressing has six meters: Gāyatrī, Uṣṇih, Kakubh, Anuṣṭubh, Jagatī, and Bṛhatī. From this twenty-four-syllable Gāyatrī, he places twenty syllables onto the Kakubh. It becomes a Jagatī. Then the four \[syllables\] that remain over, he places those onto the Uṣṇih. It becomes a thirty-two-syllable Anuṣṭubh. The Anuṣṭubh is indeed an Anuṣṭubh. He arranges it in two parts. He places sixteen syllables of it onto the Anuṣṭubh. It becomes a Jagatī. The Jagatī is already complete beyond. Then the sixteen \[syllables\] that remain over, he places those onto the Bṛhatī of the Yajñāyajñīya \[sāman\]. It becomes a fifty-two-syllable Jagatī. Four syllables exceed the Jagatī, which are these four-footed cattle; and they are the udders, the milk of the Virāj; and they are the firm support, so that one may stand firmly as a four-footed \[animal\] stands firmly. In this way it corresponds right there. Nothing remains in excess. He places three \[syllables\] into the deficiency of the Vāmadevya \[sāman\]—
