> They thereby make cattle the counterparts of cattle;
> they do not make them visible counterparts here.
> Therefore cattle give birth to various forms: even a white \[cow\] gives birth to a black one, and a black one to a white one, and a red one to a dappled one, and a dappled one to a red one.
> "Like courser horses seeking renown, / the Somas have stepped forward for wealth"—
> thus they approach the form of the introductory rite;
> for this day is introductory.
> "Being urged on like chariots..."—
> that which contains 'chariot' is indeed the form of the introductory rite.
> "They have run into the hands, / like the prizes of the victorious; / like kings with praise, the Somas are anointed with milk"—
> \[verses\] containing 'cow' and cattle are used, for securing cattle;
> for the Chandomas are cattle.
> "Like sacrifice with the seven nourishers..."—
> thus they approach the form of the seventh day.
