The Vāmadevya is the womb. On the tenth day they make it slip from the womb. Therefore, ten-month embryos slip from the womb for procreation. The Vāmadevya is the breaths. Regarding this they say: 'Those who fail in a ritual action of the sacrifice are deprived of breaths, or perhaps they do not fail. For who knows whether they fail or not?' The Vāmadevya is real among the stotras, Agni is real among the deities, the virāj is real among the meters, the thirty-three-fold \[stoma\] is real among the stomas.
