bahiṣpavamānam āsadya ṭītra viyi prāṇya iti kūryāt ṭītra gṛhitra apānya iti vācā
didṛkṣetaivākṣibhyaṃ śuśrūṣetaiva karṇābhyām
svayam idam manoyuktam /

Having approached the bahiṣpavamāna, he should breathe in [with the sound] "ṭītra viyi", and breathe out with speech [saying] "ṭītra gṛhitra".
He should desire to see with both eyes; he should desire to hear with both ears;
this [chant] is spontaneously yoked to the mind.

3.5.6

Where an arrow is overly sharp, it does not harm from there, nor would it reach this [target].
He should breathe out just with "pa".
Just as one would lead a deer with a reflection/decoy, even so one leads him with this deity.
He acts when yoked;
and this one also is yoked.
[This is] the fifth khaṇḍa in the first anuvāka.
The first anuvāka is completed.
