Sudakṣiṇa Kṣaimi, on the other hand, used to inquire only into what was the direct path of the sacrifice, what was well understood.

Sudakṣiṇa Kṣaimi said: "Where the most Kuru-Pañcālas are assembled, there our debate shall take place. We will not debate like Śūdras out of sight."

tayor ha prācīnaśālir vṛta udgātā /
Then the two Jābālas, Śukra and Gośru, underwent consecration [for a sacrifice].
Prācīnaśāli was chosen as their udgātṛ.

dvitīye 'nuvāke dvitīyaḥ khaṇḍaḥ //
Sudakṣiṇa perceived this: "The two Jābālas have undergone consecration."
He said to his charioteer: "Bring [the chariot] near, friend; the two Jābālas have undergone consecration; thither we two will go."
