- Language
- Sanskrit
7.11.1
samyvantam bhavati /
It ends with the śaṃyu [formula].
7.11.2
abhikrāntyai tad rūpam /
That is a form of progression.
7.11.3
tad yathā upaprayāya svargasya lokasya nedīyastāyām vased evam tat / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
Just as if, having marched forth, one were to dwell in close proximity to the heavenly world, so indeed is that.
7.11.4
yad v eva śamyvantam bhavati /
And in that it ends with the śaṃyu [formula]—
7.11.5
sarvā ha vai devatāḥ prāyaṇīye saṃgacchante / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
all the deities indeed assemble at the introductory sacrifice.
7.11.6
sa yo atra samyājayet /
If someone here were to perform the samyājyā offerings,
7.11.7
yathā saṃgatam bhūmānam devānām patnīr abhyavanayed evam tat / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
just as one might lead the wives [of the gods] to meet the assembled multitude of the gods, so indeed is that.
7.11.8
yas tam tatra brūyāt /
If someone were to say of him there:
7.11.9
saṃgatām vā ayam bhūmānam devānām patnīr abhyavānaiṣīt / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
“This man has led the wives down to the assembled multitude of the gods;
7.11.10
sabhāmasya patny abhyavaiṣyati iti tathā ha syāt /
his wife will go down to the assembly-hall”—it would indeed happen so.
7.11.11
tasmād u śamyvantam bhavati / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
Therefore, moreover, it ends with the śaṃyu [formula],
7.11.12
devatānām asamarāya / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
to prevent confusion among the deities.
7.11.13
asurā vai asyām diśi devānt samarundhan yā iyam prācy udīcī / (soma: soma kraya)
The Asuras indeed shut out the gods in this quarter, which is the northeast.
7.11.14
ta etasyām diśi santaḥ somam rājyāya abhyaṣiñcanta /
Being in this quarter, they consecrated Soma to kingship.
7.11.15
te somena rājñā ebhyo lokebhyo asurān anudanta / (soma: soma kraya)
Through King Soma they drove out the Asuras from these worlds.
7.11.16
tatho eva etad yajamānaḥ somena eva rājñā ebhyo lokebhyo dviṣato bhrātṛvyān nudate / (soma: soma kraya)
In the very same way the sacrificer, through King Soma, drives out his hateful rivals from these worlds.
