7.7.2
tatho eva etad yajamānaḥ prāyaṇīyena eva prāṇam āpnoty udayanīyena udānam / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
In this very way the sacrificer by the opening offering obtains out-breath, [and] by the concluding offering, in-breath.

tasmād ya eva prāyaṇīyasya ṛtvijas ta udayanīyasya syuḥ / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
Therefore, those who are priests of the opening offering should be [the priests] of the concluding offering,
7.7.5
samānau hi imau prāṇa udānau /
for these two, out-breath and in-breath, are equal.
7.7.6
prāyaṇīyena ha vai devāḥ svargaṃl lokam abhiprayāya diśo na prajajñuḥ / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
Having set forth to the heavenly world by the opening offering, the gods did not discern the directions.

Agni said to them:
7.7.8

Facing east, sitting by it, they offer,
7.7.14

for this direction of his has been discerned.
7.7.15
atha abravīt somaḥ /
Then Soma said:
7.7.16

dakṣiṇo eva enam āsīnā abhiṣuṇvanti / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
Sitting to the south, they press it,
7.7.23
eṣā hi tasya dik prajñātā /
for this direction of his has been discerned.
7.7.24
atha abravīt savitā /
Then Savitṛ said:
7.7.25
mahyam ekām ājya āhutim juhuta aham ekām diśam prajñāsyāmi iti / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
"Offer one butter offering to me; I shall discern one direction."

They offered to him.

sa pratīcīm diśam prājānāt /
He discerned the western direction.
7.7.28
tad asau vai savitā yo asau tapati / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
That Savitṛ is indeed yonder one who shines there.
7.7.29
tasmād etam pratyañcam eva ahar ahar yantam paśyanti na prāñcam /
Therefore they see him going westward day after day, not eastward.
7.7.30
eṣā hi tasya dik prajñātā / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
For this is his recognized quarter.
7.7.31
atha abravīt pathyā svastiḥ /
Then Pathyā Svasti said:
7.7.32

sā udīcīm diśam prājānāt /
She discerned the northern quarter.

Pathyā Svasti is indeed speech.
7.7.36
tasmād udīcyām diśi prajñātatarā vāg udyate /
Therefore in the northern direction speech is spoken more discerningly.
7.7.37
udañca u eva yanti vācam śikṣitum / (soma: prāyaṇīyeṣṭi)
And people go north to learn speech.
7.7.38
yo vā tata āgacchati /
Or whoever comes from there,
7.7.39
tasya vā śuśrūṣanta iti ha sma āha /
