25.13.1

that which is the Viśvajit belonging to the year-long sacrificial session.

25.13.2

The Agniṣṭoma is indeed a firm foundation, [concluding thus] for the sake of a firm foundation.

25.13.3

If it is an independent one-day Viśvajit, or the central day of a night session, it should indeed be an Atirātra.

25.13.4

Complete is that Viśvajit which is an Atirātra.

25.13.5

Half of the Viśvajit is indeed performed by day,

25.13.6

and half by night.

25.13.7

Now, that [sacrifice] is indeed a total loss of everything which is performed elsewhere than with giving all property or [in] a sacrificial session.

25.13.8

That indeed is a complete deprivation,

25.13.9

when one gives away everything elsewhere than at the Viśvajit.

25.13.10

If it is the Viśvajit, [one gives] everything;

25.13.11

and if [one gives] everything, it must be the Viśvajit.

25.13.12

Whoever, indeed, says, 'I will not give everything,'

25.13.13

he is deprived of his descent into the pit, or he perishes, so he used to say.

25.13.14

'A thousand [cows] secure him,' Kauṣītaki used to say;

25.13.15

for that which is a thousand is everything.

25.13.16

The Viśvajit is everything;

25.13.17

he thus obtains everything by means of everything, who knows this.

25.13.18

He should put on skins of calves.

25.13.19

Empty, as it were, becomes the self of him who gives away everything.

25.13.20

Cattle indeed desire the calf,

25.13.21

[and he does so thinking,] 'May cattle desire me again.'

25.13.22

He should reside among the Udumbaras;

25.13.23

the Udumbara is vigor and food,

25.13.24

for the attainment of vigor and food.

25.13.25

He should reside among the Niṣādas;

25.13.26

that Niṣāda [food] is the lowest food,

25.13.27

for the attainment of the lowest food.
