mā́ bhūma níṣṭyā ivéndra tvád áraṇā iva |
vánāni ní prajahitā́ny adrivo duróṣāso amanmahi ||1||
Never may we be cast aside and strangers, as it were to thee.
We, Thunder-wielding Indra, count ourselves as trees rejected and unfit to burn.
20.116.2
ámanmahī́d anāśávo 'nugrā́saś ca vr̥trahan |
sukŕ̥t sú te mahatā́ śūra rā́dhasā́nu stómaṃ mudīmahi ||2||
O Vritra slayer, we were thought slow and unready for the fray:
Yet once in thy great bounty may we have delight, O Hero, after praising thee.
