Vernacular: O wearer of ornaments! O woman with a face like a lotus! When mandākrāntā is without its final caesura (pause), then know it certainly as called by the learned the haṃsī metre. That is, in mandākrāntā there are 17 syllables and a pause on the fourth, sixth, and seventh syllables. But in the haṃsī metre there are 10 syllables, in which the first 4 syllables are long, from the fifth to the ninth are light, the tenth syllable is long, and there is a pause on the 4th and 6th syllables.
