# Shrutabodha 46\_182

English (machine translation) 46\_182

- **Language:** English

### [46\_182](https://indike.org/pramana/in.vedanga.chanda.srutabodha~en-mt.46_182)

Meaning: Having made as many heavy syllables as there are syllables in the metre, one should place them first; and having placed a light syllable below the first heavy syllable, one should continue placing below the rest just as it is above; and in those \[preceding\] places one should supply heavy syllables; one should do this operation repeatedly until all become light syllables; those who know the science of metrics have called this 'prastāra'. (By performing this, numerous varieties of a single metre are derived.)
