Now he offers the domestic expiations: when the fire has gone out, upon missing the proper time for the two oblations and for the new- and full-moon sacrifices, when consuming new grain without having performed the Āgrayaṇa, when a child is born to his wife without the parting-of-the-hair rite having been performed, upon the birth of twins among women or among cattle, upon approaching another's wife, upon approaching a menstruating woman, upon sexual intercourse by day, when the life-cycle rite of birth has not been performed for a boy, upon an error in mantra, upon an error in ritual action, upon an error in the student's vow, upon the breaking of the girdle, when the staff is broken, upon not wearing the sacred thread, upon omission of the twilight devotion, upon omission of the fire ritual, [or] upon omission of the water pot—on account of these and other [faults], having set up the fire as prescribed in ritual practice, having strewn [grass] all around, taking clarified butter four times, [he offers with the mantra]: 'Protect us, O Agni, from sin, svāhā!'

If the initiatory investiture fire, the marriage fire, the childbed fire, or the cremation-ground fire should go out before the fourth day, before the tenth day, or before the collection [of bones], with: "Smitten are the Asuras, the Rakṣases, and the Piśācas who dwell along the earth;

With "This is your seasonal womb," having fetched fire from the house of a learned Brahmin, having deposited it with the two [verses]: "O sacrificer, be awakened!", having strewn around, and having circum-poured water, he offers the expiation: the Pañcahotṛ formula from "Ayāścāgneḥ", the Ekahotṛ for the Brahman priest, with the Manasvatī verse, the two Indra-oblations, and the mystic utterances.
