nipātabhājaṃ somaṃ ca asyāṃ rathītaro'bravīt .
sendreṣu hi nipāto'tra stuto'gniraruṇena sam .. 145 ..

143. And after (a hymn: x. 89) addressed to Indra a (comes) the Purusa hymn (x. 90). With the last (stanza: 16) of (the hymn) addressed to Purusa the circumstances (artha) are told in which the Sadhyas divided him for the purpose of sacrifice. - aindram hd, aindra m', indram, tathaidrat , tathaindrat bkr 2. - tatha has probably been inserted because the pada had become a syllable short owing to the contraction cantya.- purusasuktam hm`1, paurusam suktam bikr' (paurusam S). - ca antyaya 1, cantyaya hdbfk.- pauru- sasya bfk, purusasya hm r. - abhajan , abhajat hdm', vyabhajat bfk. * Or, according to A, 'There is (a hymn) addressed to Indra (x. 89) and (then) the Purusa hymn (x. 90).' 144. In the stanza addressed to Indra a, 'He who gives zeal when imbibed' (apantamanyuh: x. 89. 5), Soma is clearly praised. Soma is praised either because he belongs to the same world or because he is (Indra's) companion. - aindryam b, aityam f, aitam k, etam 12, asyam hm' r. - somo'tra hm' r' bfkr', somastu 1.-144°=i. 19ª; i. 98ª; v. 172ª (cp. Nirukta xi. 5).-144°d and 145 ab are omitted in bfk, which have the following single line instead: indrah pradhanyato catra stutah somo nipatabhak | a I have preferred the reading aindryam to asyam, as the former seems to be supported by the Sarvanukramani, which makes the express statement: pancamy aindrasomi. 145. Rathitara a has said that in this (stanza) Soma is incidental (nipatabhaj); for in (hymns) addressed to Indra there is here (such) incidental mention. In 'Together' (sam: x. 91) Agni is praised by Aruna. II. P P
