tatra ṛgvedasyārthaśāstram upavedaḥ | yajurvedasya dhanurvedopavedaḥ | sāmavedasya gāndharvavedopavedaḥ | brahmavedasyāyurvedopavedaḥ | abhicārakārthaśāstram ity ucyate ||
Herein, the Arthaśāstra is the secondary Veda of the Ṛgveda; the Dhanurveda is the secondary Veda of the Yajurveda; the Gāndharvaveda is the secondary Veda of the Sāmaveda; and the Āyurveda is the secondary Veda of the Brahmaveda, [which] is called the manual of sorcery and statecraft.
