70.9.1
tatra śāntiṃ pravakṣyāmi sarvapāpapraṇāśinīm | divyatantravid ācāryo yayā phalam avāpnuyāt ||
There I shall declare the propitiatory rite that destroys all sin, / by which an ācārya knowing celestial rites will obtain the fruit.
70.9.2
pūrvaṃ tāvad viśuddhātmā sa puraścaraṇo bhavet | devatānāṃ tato yāgaṃ yathāśruti samācaret ||
First, being pure-souled, he should become prepared through preparatory rites; / then he should perform worship of the deities according to revelation.
70.9.3
yāgaṃ kṛtvā grahāṇāṃ tu nakṣatrāṇāṃ tataḥ param | ṛtūn athārtavāṃś caiva mahādevagaṇādhipān ||
Having performed worship of the planets, thereafter of the lunar mansions, / then of the seasons and seasonal divisions, and of the leaders of Mahādeva's retinues,
70.9.4
diśaś ca vidiśaś caiva yamendravaruṇāṃs tathā | viśveśvaraṃ ca viṣṇuṃ ca yajetādbhutakarma ca ||
and of the cardinal directions and intermediate directions, and likewise of Yama, Indra, and Varuṇa, / and of the Lord of All and Viṣṇu, he should worship with rites for portents,
70.9.5
sūryācandramasāv agniṃ sarvān grahagaṇāṃs tathā | vāyuṃ tathāśvinau caiva mahāśāntiṃ vidhānataḥ ||
the sun and moon, fire, and all the host of planets, / wind and the two Aśvins, according to the rule of the great propitiatory rite.
70.9.6
kuryād devādṛto dhīmān evaṃ doṣaḥ praśāmyati ||
Honoured by the gods, the wise man should perform [it]; thus the blemish is appeased.”
