12.18.1

وكان عضد الدين فقيها إماما فاضلا كبير القدر عظيم الصيت شهير الذكر ببلاده، فبلغت السلطان أخباره وسمع بمآثره فبعث إليه إلى بلده شونكارة عشرة آلاف دينار دراهم، ولم يره قط ولا وفد عليه.

ʿAḍud al-Dīn was a jurist, an imām, learned, of great standing, high repute and wide fame in his country. News of him reached the sultan and he heard of his merits, so he sent him ten thousand dīnārs in dirhams to his town of Shūnkāra, though he had never seen him nor had he ever come to him.
