13.6.1
When the Sultan reached Dawlat Ābād and was far from his own lands, the amīr Hulājūn rebelled in the city of Lāhūr and claimed the kingship. The amīr Qaljand helped him in this, and he made him his vizier. News of this reached the vizier Khwāja Jahān

while he was in Dihlī. He mustered people, assembled troops, gathered the Khurāsānīs and every one of the officials resident in Dihlī, taking their followers; among them he took my followers, since I was resident there. The Sultan reinforced him with two great amīrs, one of them Qīrān Malik Ṣafdār, meaning 'the marshal of the troops', and the other al-Malik Tamūr the sharbdār, that is, the cupbearer. Hulājūn came out with troops, and they met on the bank of one of the great rivers (30). Hulājūn was routed and fled, and many of his troops drowned in the river. The vizier entered the city, flayed some of its people and killed others by other kinds of execution. The one who carried out their killing was Muḥammad b. al-Najīb, the vizier's deputy, known as Ajdar Malik, and also called Ṣagg al-Sulṭān — ṣagg among them means 'dog'. He was a tyrant, hard of heart, and the Sultan called him 'the lion of the markets'. At times he would bite criminals with his teeth out of greed and hostility. The vizier sent about three hundred of the rebels' women to the fortress of Kāliyūr, where they were imprisoned, and I saw some of them there. One of the jurists had a wife among them, and he used to visit her until she bore him a child in the prison!
