When autumn comes they gather it and spread it on mats in the sun, as is done with grapes when making raisins, and they keep turning it until it is thoroughly dry and black, and then they sell it to the merchants.

> The first city of the land of al-Mulaybār that we entered was the city of Abū Sarūr (with a after the s). It is small, on a large inlet, with many coconut palms. The chief of the Muslims there is Shaykh Jumʿa, known as Abū Sitta, one of the generous, who spent his wealth on the poor and needy until it was gone.

> Two days from there we reached the city of Fākanūr (its name is pronounced with a after the f, the k and the n, ending in r), a large city on an inlet. It has abundant, excellent sugar cane, unequalled in that country, and a community of Muslims whose chief is called Ḥusayn al-Salāṭ. It has a qāḍī and a preacher, and this Ḥusayn built a mosque there for holding the Friday prayer.
