### [12.6.1](https://indike.org/pramana/inf.isl.ar.rihla.ibn-battuta~en-mt.12.6.1)

When the governors bring the gifts and the funds collected from the revenues of the provinces, they make vessels of gold and silver such as basins, ewers and the like, and they make pieces of gold and silver like bricks which they call khisht (with kasra on the dotted khāʾ, sukūn on the dotted shīn, and a dotted tāʾ). The farrāshes, who are the sultan's slaves, stand in a row with the gift in their hands, each of them holding one piece. Then the elephants are brought forward, if there are any in the gift, then the saddled and bridled horses, then the mules, then the camels carrying the money.

### [12.6.2](https://indike.org/pramana/inf.isl.ar.rihla.ibn-battuta~en-mt.12.6.2)

I saw the vizier Khwāja Jahān present his gift one day when the sultan came from Dawlat Ābād and he met him with it outside the city of Bayāna. The gift was brought in to him in this order, and among it I saw a tray full of rubies, a tray full of emeralds and a tray full of splendid pearls. Ḥājjī Kāwun, cousin of Sultan Abū Saʿīd, king of ʿIrāq, was present with him at the time, and he gave him a share of it; this will be mentioned later, if God Most High wills.
