Shāh Afghān had rebelled against the Sultan in the land of Multān in the country of Sind and killed the amīr there, who was called Bihzād, and claimed the sultanate for himself. The Sultan prepared to fight him, and he, knowing that he could not withstand him, fled and joined his people, the Afghans, who live in impregnable mountains that cannot be overcome. The Sultan was enraged at what he had done and wrote to his governors to seize whatever Afghans they found in his lands, and this was the cause of the rebellion of the qāḍī Jalāl.
