They held that city in obedience to the Sultan and in support of him, and sent to him declaring their resolve to hold fast to the rope of obedience and to observe the religion of the community, and asked that someone be dispatched to take over the region from them, so that they might hasten to his court and perfume themselves by kissing its dust. The Sultan did what they asked and rewarded them well for what they had done.
