> "I related this tale so that the Shah's sublime judgment should not remain negligent of the impetuousness of reflection and the extent of women's treachery,
> nor consider it permissible, on their word, to embark upon such a terrible punishment,
> whose remedy would be impossible, and in this world and the hereafter he would become blamed and punished, censured and called to account." When the king heard these premises, he ordered
> that the prince be taken back to prison and that the punishment be postponed.

> When the duration of this misfortune reached the fourth day, and for three consecutive days the viziers
> of the king, who were the grandees of the state and the peers of the court, through subtle wisdom and rare
> admonitions had played several matches from the tales of women's wiles on the carpet of the king's hearing to preserve the prince's life; and the slave-girl was executing every queen-mate she knew and making every
> chess-stratagem she recognized to checkmate the prince; however, the viziers
> of the realm were each a wise queen and an unmatched administrator; by the lights of the lamps
> of knowledge and intellect they dispelled the darkness of that injustice, and with the water of sound judgment
> they quenched the sparks of the fire of the king's wrath from consuming the harvest of the welfare of religion and state; and the bile
