صبح آمذ وعلامت مصقول بر کشیذ وز آسمان شمامهآ کافور ر دمیذ در شذ چتر ماه سنانهای آفتابوز حیف شخص ماه سر اندر سپر کشیذ صرصر عواصف سییذه بوزید ، وشکوفهای گلزار شام فرو ریخت ، گفتی ید بیضای کلیم از جیب افق بر آمذ ، وعصای او حبایل سحرهآ فرعون بیوبارید . مرد نگاه کرد ، خوذرا بر پشت شرزه شیری دید نشسته ، با خوذ گفت : اگر درین صحرا ساذه گردم ، شیر قصد من کنذ ، ومرا با او امکان مقاومت ناشذ . همچنان می راند ، تا بدرختی رسیذ؛ چنگ در شاخ درخت زذ ، وبر دوید ؛ وشیر از رنج او خلاص یافت ، وگفت :

> Morning came and raised its burnished banner, / and the scent of camphor wafted from the sky;  
> The spearheads of the sun pierced the parasol of the moon, / and from that injury the figure of the moon drew its head beneath the shield.  
> The violent gale of the dawn blew, and the blossoms of the rose garden of evening fell down; you might say  
> the White Hand of Moses came forth from the bosom of the horizon, and his staff swallowed the cords of Pharaoh's sorcerers.  
> The man looked, and saw himself seated upon the back of a fierce lion. He said to himself:  
> "If I dismount in this plain, the lion will turn upon me, and I will have no power  
> to resist him." He kept riding until he reached a tree; he seized a branch  
> of the tree and scrambled up; and the lion was delivered from his affliction, and said:
