According to your custom you showed magnanimity; / you assisted us with your union.
Come in, for however much a corner shows the attribute of narrowness, in terms of affinity and unity
it possesses harmony.” Promptly they went up to the pavilion and retired into the bedclothes.

Hardly had the business progressed from kissing and embracing to the waistband, and the winter of separation concluded into the spring
of union, when the master of the house arrived and shook the door knocker. The soldier

### [205.7](https://indike.org/pramana/inf.isl.fa.qissa.sindbadnama~en-mt.205.7)

Story of the soldier, the beloved, and the apprentice
said, “At any moment your husband will enter and pick a quarrel with me, and
clamor and commotion will arise between us, and he will cling to my skirt and collar; and if this word
reaches the ear of the governor, he will subject me to reprimand and reproach, severity and censuring, unless \[…\]”
\[‘unless\] you hide me in this upper chamber!’ Since the woman had already hidden the boy in the upper chamber, she was perplexed.
She said: ‘Fear not! Draw your sword from its sheath, and with rage and boldness open the door,
and go out, cursing me and my husband, and pay heed to no one,
and be on your way!’ The soldier did just that: he went out the door of the house with his sword drawn
and his arms spread wide, and was saying in a loud voice: ‘Right now,
this affair shall be dealt with, and the recompense of each one's deeds duly delivered,
so that before the sultan’s throne I shall have no need of chamberlain or doorkeeper!’ And of this
sort of dreadful nonsense and misleading words he was uttering as he went. When the husband saw his bewilderment
and rashness, and heard his threatening words, he said to himself: ‘Perhaps this man
has mistaken the house, and against what Muslim has he mounted a sudden assault? And we take refuge
with God from the evil of this rebellious devil, the obstinate tyrant!’ And he entered the house in astonishment,
and said to his wife: ‘What is this clamour and noise, and what state of affairs is this? Who was this man,
and what was this shouting and commotion for?’ The woman ran forward and said: ‘O husband!

The Tale of the Soldier, the Mistress, and the Apprentice
Prostrate yourself in thanks and praise to God, and make a vow to give alms and gifts to the poor
and the needy, for God the Exalted has turned such a calamity away from us!’ The man said:

### [205.28](https://indike.org/pramana/inf.isl.fa.qissa.sindbadnama~en-mt.205.28)

‘Tell me, what was the cause? For this is a great good tiding, yet this gesture was ominous!’ The woman said:

### [205.29](https://indike.org/pramana/inf.isl.fa.qissa.sindbadnama~en-mt.205.29)

‘At that moment I was sitting heedless and unaware, when a boy, looking like a fugitive, came in through the door
of the house, distressed and distraught, the jaundice of dread having turned his face yellow, and the delirium
of punishment having stripped him of reason and intellect. He bound me with solemn and severe oaths, saying:
"Hide me in this house and redeem my life by the charity of your own life! For a rash oppressor,
a bewildered butcher, is pursuing my trail and seeks my life!"

### [205.34](https://indike.org/pramana/inf.isl.fa.qissa.sindbadnama~en-mt.205.34)

And from fear and dread, perplexity and terror, he ran to the upper chamber and covered himself with clothes.
I was in this state when that reckless tyrant entered through the door like a flame,
sword in hand, roaring like a leopard and a lion, and snorting like a leviathan and a dragon.

### [205.37](https://indike.org/pramana/inf.isl.fa.qissa.sindbadnama~en-mt.205.37)

I thought reckless Ḍaḥḥāk had sought the life of Jamshīd, or Bahrām had set his face to avenge
Nāhīd. He shouted at me and said: "Where did this boy go, and what did you do with him?"

### [205.39](https://indike.org/pramana/inf.isl.fa.qissa.sindbadnama~en-mt.205.39)

I denied it and persisted \[in stating\] that I had not seen such a person, and had not heard his name
or patronymic. He insisted and disputed for a while, and brought forth warnings and threats;
when it proved of no avail, he uttered several insults and set his face outward; and as for me,
