Inscribed pillar
The four-line Prakrit inscription on this pillar is of the sixth regnal year of Vijaya Satakarni, one of the last Satavahana kings, in Brahmi script of the third century AD. This Buddhist record establishes beyond doubt that Buddhism had penetrated into the valley even before the Ikshavakus.
