Birth of Jyotishka

This relief bears an allusion to the rivalry that existed between the Buddhist and Jaina sects. Buddha prophesied that Subhadra would give birth to a son who would make his family renowned. But at the same time, Jaina monks warned Subhadra and predicted that the future child would bring nothing but disaster.
