# Mirror back

This mirror holder was made within the Mughal empire, probably in the early 18th century. The greenish grey nephrite jade is pierced and ornately carved. The recess where the mirror would have been placed is flat and unpolished. The outer surface is polished, and its design of a flowering plant is in low relief.
