This sword hilt was made within the Mughal empire in the 18th century. It is fashioned from a single piece of light greyish-green nephrite jade, ornamented with flowers and leaves in low relief. It was bequeathed to the museum in 1882 by Arthur Wells, a Nottingham solicitor and Clerk of the Peace.
